The experience supported the gathering rather than overshadowing it. That balance is harder to achieve than most people realise. Later in the evening, one guest mentioned attending a hibachi party Connecticut the previous summer. The comparison came unprompted. While that event was lively, it had felt more like a performance. Ours felt integrated. Less show, more presence.
